Kʷux̌ax̌ist (We Walk Together)

Kʷux̌ax̌ist (Okanagan Syilx for We Walk Together) is an Indigenous cultural mentorship program that recognizes the role that cultural practices play in helping people who have experienced, or are experiencing, trauma to heal.

Our goal is to connect people seeking help with cultural resources that will help them access cultural teachings such as: smudge, land based learning, tobacco teachings, drum, song etc. We will support cultural sensitivity training for our non-Indigenous participants and the community in hopes to share in some of the Indigenous practices as appropriate to encourage reconciliation.

Kʷux̌ax̌ist is a partnership between PEOPLE Employment Services and Ki-low-na Friendship Society. Members of the PEOPLE cohort will be available alongside Elders from the community to start sharing cultural teachings in the community. Please contact us if you would like to explore opportunities to bring Kʷux̌ax̌ist to your organization or event.
